El-Rufai gives shocking reasons he stood by deposed Kano Emir
Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has said that the dethroned Emir of Kano State, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has been his childhood friend.
He said the Emir has always been with him during his travails in the past, hence, he wouldn’t live to see Sanusi being harassed and oppressed without coming to his aid.
Fielding questions in Awe, Nasarawa after Jumat prayers, the Governor said traditional rulers have alot to offer, hence, they should be respected, noting that in Kaduna State, monarchs are the custodian of culture and they are respected for that.
El-Rufai said he was in Awe to see the former Emir and to escort him out having been discharged by the Court.
“I came to visit my friend and my brother, the deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II and to see how he is doing and to express support for him.”
“We have been friends since we were teenagers. He has been my side throughout my troubles and successes and I have to be by his side throughout his own troubles and successes. We are inseparable.”
El-Rufai who was excited by the Court decision freeing Sanusi from banishment said he can live and go to places of his choice.
“As you know, the Federal High Court in Abuja today declared his detention illegal and unconstitutional and his banishment also in violation of the constitution. So, he is free.
“He can live anywhere he wants, including Kano city, if he wants. But we are on our way to Abuja. It is quite likely that the Emir will proceed to Lagos which was his preferred destination from day one.
“From the day he was informed of his deposition, it was his wish to go to Lagos because some of his family members are now in Lagos. And by the grace of God we are on our way to Lagos.”
