Group urges governor Mutfwang to investigate Plateau Polytechnic Rector, alleges monumental fraud

A Plateau based anti-corruption group operating under the aegis of Action Against Corruption (AAC), has called on governor Caleb Mutfwang to set up a panel to investigate Plateau State Polytechnic Rector and his management, alleging that there is a monumental fraud going on in the institution.

The group said, if the Rector of the Plateau State Polytechnic Barkin-Ladi, John Dawam, and the management are not immediately investigated of administrative and financial sleaze, and brought to justice, the State institution will slide into collapse.

The AAC made the call through a petition addressed to the State governor, copies of which were made available to the press in Jos on Friday.

The petition is titled “Plateau state Polytechnic on the verge of eminent collapse: A call on Government to investigate the litany of infractions in the institution”

The letter was signed by Joshua Michael the spokesman of AAC.

The group called for the suspension of the Rector and the management from office to give way for investigation.

Reacting to the petition, the Rector of the Polytechnic Bldr John Dawam welcomed the development and expressed his readiness to cooperate with the panel if it is set up.

He said: “Let the visitation panel come to the Polytechnic, I am as strong as a Lion, my records are there for the panel to peruse.
“The allegations against me are spurious and borne out of malice by instigating my removal office.”

According to him, those championing the move against him are vain gloru seekers and power mongers looking for cheap popularity and relevance in the present administration.
