LG Chairman speaks on effort in tackling insecurity in Nasarawa

As part of efforts to achieve lasting and parmanent solution to security challenges bedeviling, Keana and Guma Local Government Councils, within border town of Nasarawa and Benue states, we are set to tackle insecurity headlong.

Chairman of Keana Local Government Council, Alhaji Adamu Adi made this known in an exclusive interview with CAPITAL POST in his residence in Giza, adding, that since he assumed office, he found out that there were series of security challenges.

“The security challenges facing us is not far from the anti-grazing law passed by our neighboring, Benue state, that prompted insecurity in Keana Local Government Council”, he said.

“Immediately I swung into action by initiating a meeting with my counterpart chairman of Guma in Benue state.

“Before I proceeded, I sought the approval of Governor Abdullahi Sule and immediately he granted me approval to initiate the meeting and when we met, there was a serious deliberation on the issue bordering us but, the communique of that meeting dwelt on authentication of border demarcation.

“Based on that, we all agreed to go back and meet with our Governors so that they can come in as a matter of urgency. I quickly report the issue to my Governor whixh he agreed to meet with his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom.

“This formed a meeting between the two Governors in Yalwata border towns of the two states to fine-tune ways out of this historical crises with a communique of their meeting reminding us of the same border crisis.

Alhaji Adi further explained that insecurity has become worrisome to him and gives him sleepless night, saying: “I will not rest untill permanent solution has been achieved in the area of security in Keana Local Government Council. He promised.

On the issue of infrastructure in Keana, Alhaji Adi stated that his first projects to redeem as part his campaign promises was the execution of bridges and one kilometer roads in each of the 13 local government council, initiated by the former Governor, Umar Al-Makura and finance by the council.

“Infact my project is hundred percent completion as I’m talking to you now, I am still owing the company about forty eight million naira and by the grace of Allah, I will pay them before my tenure elapase.

“When Governor, Abdullahi Sule came on board, he initiated another project, street light electrification system in all the local governments. This project is now in use in Keana, Giza and Kaddarko while other towns will soon be connected.

Continuing that his administration has embarked on a gigantic 33KV electrification project from Keana, Giza and Kaddarko, “this is a lengthy project that needed more resources and so far, four hundred poles were mounted and the wiring is ongoing which very soon, people of Giza and Kaddarko will be connected with the national grid.” Adi assured.

The Chaieman called on people of the locality and the state in general to continue to support the present administration of governor Sule to enable him succeed.
