SOKAPU Youths activities not suspended – PRO

The Youth Wing of the Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU) said it’s activities have not been suspended.

A press statement credited to Mr Luka Binniyat, the National PRO of SOKAPU alleged the suspension of the activities of the youth wing of SOKAPU for two weeks.

But a statement issued by the National Youth Public Relations officer, Comrade Ernest Thyek Maidawa, said while they will not attempt to join issues with Mr Binniyat nor any member of the national body, it is however imperative to state that the National Youth wing is completely ignorant of Mr Biniyat assertions and has no knowledge of the suspension of it’s activities as captured in his statement.

“It is also important to note that in consonance with Sec. 20(I) of SOKAPU constitution the National youth wing is not a creation of the national body and does not exist at the dictate of the national body as the youth wing is a duly elected body.

“It is also instructive to note that the relationship between the national body and the National youth wing is coordinate and not subjective, the National youth wing is not a committee of the national body as such it’s activities can only be policed by a duly constituted National Executive Council (NEC)

“Members of the general public are to this end advised to ignore the statement as the youth wing is up and doing in delivering its core mandate of promoting the overall objectives of the Union.

“The youth wing will however not be distracted particularly at this time when Southern Kaduna is faced with existential threats, ” the statement added.
