2023: APC chieftain quits over choice of Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate
A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Air Vice Marshal Frank Ajobena (rtd) has left the party over Senator Kashim Shettima’s nomination as presidential running mate.
Ahmed Bola Tinubu last Sunday announced Kashim Shettima as his choice of running mate.
Ajobena was the first Military Administrator of Abia State and a member of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State.
Ajobena, also a national caucus member of the APC described the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the party in respect of the 2023 election as “the highest level of insensitivity to the Christian faith in the country.”
His exit from APC was contained in a statement he made available to journalists on Tuesday, insisting that it was wrong for Ahmed Bola Tinubu to undermine Christians in the country.
“Tinubu is not my enemy, I am not against him. But let’s call a spade a spade. It is not my character to be a double agent, I am not pretending; even though I like the APC, the right thing should be done.
“The decision could be described as one that portrays arrogance and total disrespect to us, Christians, in the APC.”
He claimed that Tinubu’s action portrayed some of them as been cheap to bought over, wondering if people like him will be serving in his campaign as slaves.
He said: “A man must stand for something, else or will fall for anything, hence, I am quitting”.
