Muslim-Muslim ticket: APC, a “janjaweed” party going the way of Nazi Germany – Rt Hon. Dogara

The vexed Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general election continue to eat deep into the structure and substructure of the party as prominent northern Christians vowed to bring the party on its knees in the general election.

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara on Friday tongue lashed the party for the choice of Kashim Shettima as running mate to Ahmed Bola Tinubu, saying that the APC was out to disintegrate Nigeria.

Senator Shettima is the former governor of Borno State, a Muslim from the Northeastern Nigeria who the ex-Speaker believed with his vice presidential candidate, it would up the game of division among religious and ethnic settings in Nigeria.

Speaking at the APC Northern Christian leaders summit in Abuja on Friday, he declared that APC wanted to disintegrate Nigeria like the former USSR and Yugoslavia, added that the party looked like a “janjaweed” party.

He faulted those arguing that religion would not be a factor, saying that
Nigeria of 2022 is not the Nigeria of 1993.

According to him, Tiñubu has made a fatal error of political judgement, while he asked all Christians in Nigeria to pull out and seek alternative platforms in 2023.

“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. Truth must be told that anyone who is not bringing us together is consciously tearing us apart,” Dogara added.

CAPITAL POST recalled that the APC has been on the firing line since the emergence of Senator Kashim Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate, which the northern Christians felt embarrassed.
