The Plateau State Contributory Health Care Management Agency (PLACHEMA), has sensitised tribal associations in the state to enrol into the health insurance scheme of the state.

Director General of the Agency, made the call when he visited the National Executive of the Plateau Initiative for Development and Advancement of the Natives (PIDAN), on Saturday in Jos.

Jemchang emphasised the importance of the scheme to all Plateau residents, particularly those at the rural level.

He said that the visit to PIDAN, who are representatives of various ethnic nationalities in the state is part of its Domestic Resource Mobilisation Policy, aimed at reaching out to all residents of Plateau on the need to enrol in the scheme.

“This visit is part of our domestic resource mobilisation policy aimed at reaching out to individuals and groups to enrol in the state insurance scheme.

“PIDAN is a critical stakeholder in terms of reaching out to the various ethnic nationalities in the state and this visit is to speak to them on the importance of the scheme believing that the message will get to the grassroots,”he said.

The Director General also said that it has concluded plans to increase the number of service providers in order to reach beneficiaries in the rural areas.

“Currently, we have 325 service providers across various wards in the state, but by July, we intend to have additional 325.
But we call on communities to provide a health care facility and we will equip them with modern equipment that will service the people at the rural areas,”he said.

The director general also donated 1,000 forms worth N12 million to PIDAN to be distributed to the less privileged persons to benefit from the scheme free of charge.

Responding, PIDAN President, Prof. Aboi Madaki, thanked Jemchang for the visit and described it as apt.

According to him, the visit was an eye-opener, adding that since health is wealth, called on residents of the state to enrol in the scheme for the benefit of their health.

He assured the Director General that PIDAN would deliver the message to its members.
