Youth Unemployment: CYMS Signs MOU for empowerment

In a bid to reduce youth unemployment and over dependence on white collar jobs in the country, Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitisation (CYMS) has announced that it is partnering with an organization known as Communication and System Network to engage Nigerian youths on meaningful empowerment.

A statement signed by the CYMS’s Director General, Mr Obinna Nwaka revealed that a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by both parties on Monday in Abuja to that effect.

CAPITAL POST gathered that prior to the endorsement, a formal letter of proposal for the design, development of network youth empowerment and financial consultant from the Communication and System Network ltd was received by the Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitisation (CYMS) which was approved after series of consultation and meetings.

According to CYMS, the official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will facilitate youth empowerment in a view to reduce unemployment, youth restiveness and over dependence on white collar jobs.

Other objective of the project is to launch and finance the Network Youth Empowerment Program in order to promote national socio-economic advancement to attract international communities and business opportunities for Nigerian Youth.

Also contained in the MOU is that both the Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitisation (CYMS) and Communication and System Network ltd will implement the first edition of the project cycle.

The project which is designed to last for a period of twelve (12) months will be launched in December 2021.

The Communication and System Network ltd will assist in designing the network, training & capacity building for the beneficiaries, provision of local and international partner, financing the project launch while the role of the CYMS is to provide technical assistance and guidance under the project, prepare the technical specifications for the beneficiaries, regularly consult the Communication and System Network ltd, planning and implementation of the project, engaging the public & private institutions when the need arises among others.

Reacting, the CYMS’s Director General, Mr Obinna Nwaka appreciated the company for the confidence, readiness and support for youth development while the Project Director of Communication and System Network ltd, Prof Ibrahim Ado Abubakar expressed optimism that the partnership will yield more opportunity for the teeming youth.

Observing the ceremony were, Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Policy development and Analysis, Hassan Bapetel and officials of CYMS and Communication and System Network ltd.
