Community youths are cornerstone of security architecture – Hon. Onuigbo

The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Sam Onuigbo, has asserted that community youths are the cornerstone of any security architecture in the society, and therefore, could not be dispensed with.

Hon. Onuigbo, who is also the Vice President (Africa), GLOBE International, made the assertion while receiving the Award of “The Mouth Piece of Abia Community Youths” conferred on him recently at Okpara Auditorium Umuahia Abia State.

The Council of Community Youth, Abia State, had in collaboration with the Abia State Ministry of Sports Development, given him the award on November 30, in recognition of his numerous support to the development and empowerment of Abia Community Youth.

The politician stated that, consequent upon the strategic importance of youths in the society, building communities through grassroots youth engagement, development and empowerment had become a necessity.

Onuigbo, who is a ranking member of the House of Representatives, said that he understood the importance of the youths in the society, and accordingly decided to engage with them by encouraging and supporting grassroots youth-led organizations and initiatives.

He also noted that another strategy he adopted in engaging with the youths was by offering educational and employment opportunities to the young people while also encouraging entrepreneurial training and empowerment for the youths.

The former Chairman of the House Committee on Climate Change, further informed that he engaged with the youths by providing youth-friendly leadership part-ways into politics and wider public life.

The lawmaker said that his efforts were complementary to those of the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, whom he described as youth-friendiy Governor.

His words: “I am deiighted to have been granted the opportunity to be here with you, and to make some remarks.

“Community Youths are the cornerstone of any security architecture, and cannot be dispensed with. Consequently, building our communities through grassroots Youth Engagement, Development and Empowerment is a necessity.

“I understand this fact, and have left no stone unturned in engaging with our youths through a number of strategies: encouraging and supporting grassroots youth-led organizations and initiatives; offering Educational and Employment opportunities to our Youths; encouraging Entrepreneurial Training and Empowerment for our youths and providing youth-friendly leadership part-ways into politics and wider public life. My efforts complement those of our youth-friendiy Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu PhD.

“Thank you for this recognition and award as I look forward to continuous and harmonious relationships with various Youth Bodies to ensure effective Youth participation at alI levels of society. “
