Pilgrimage: NCPC tasks Port Harcourt airport authority on best service

The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Yakubu Pam has tasked the Airport Authorities in Portharcourt to give the best of its services during the 2020 December General Pilgrimage to Israel, Greece and Rome.

He made this disclosure recently while inspecting the Port Harcourt International Airport Wing in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Representing the Executive Secretary, the Director of Operations, Rev. Amos Yohanna said “the Commission is there to seek cooperation with the airport authorities as the Commission is ready to kick start the 2020 December General Pilgrimage to Israel, Rome and Greece, revealing that the Commission has been in touch with Israeli Authorities.

The Director of Operations commended the reception the pilgrims often receive in Port Harcourt. He commended the state for the brand new terminal in the airport; he said it stands as one of the best, if not the best in Nigeria.

Rev. Yohanna stressed the need for synergy between the Airport officials and the Commission to ensure that all Covid-19 safety protocols are duly observed. He further disclosed that Israel does not require yellow fever vaccines.

He intimated the Airport officials that the Israeli government already has it’s Covid-19 protocols set in place to ensure the safety and protection of all pilgrims and visitors to it’s country.

Earlier the Regional Manager of the Port Harcourt Airport, Mr Dennis Okogwu had welcomed the NCPC entourage to the brand new terminal in his words, “we know what to do, we’ve been doing it and we shall do it better.

He added that the airport authorities would be receptive and also work hand in hand with the NCPC staff to ensure that unprohibited items are not snuck in and pilgrims should be advised on it. He emphasised on the need for Covid-19 test to be carried out 48 hours after return to Nigeria before any pilgrim is allowed in.

He assured the Commission of their utmost support to ensure the NCPC pilgrimage operations is carried out smoothly.
