The Late Attah Igala, and Chairman of Kogi State Traditional Council, Dr. Idakwo Ameh Oboni II has been laid to rest after two months of demise.

His remains was laid to rest on Monday after funeral rites were observed in line with Igala tradition which last for three days beginning from Saturday.

He reportedly died at a private hospital in Abuja after a surgical operation on 27th August, 2020.

His final burial on Monday witnessed mammoth crowd who thronged to have a glimpse of his corpse in a casket.

Before he was buried, the late Attah’s head masquerade, ‘Ekwe’, led other masquerades in dancing troupe to praise the late Attah. A tradition that has been existing for centuries.

Born in 1948, he was sworn in as Monarch of Igala Kingdom on 6th March, 2013 as the 27th Attah by the former governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada.

Though appointment of Attah has always been in line with Igala Native Law and Customs, CAPITAL POST can authoritatively report that succession struggle among the ruling houses was at feverish pitch as Kingmakers are now in high level consultation.
