Former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has opted for out of Court settlement with the plaintiff, governor Samuel Ortom over N10 billion lawsuit instituted against him.

Benue State governor sued Adams Oshiomhole over his comments at a press briefing sometime on 27 July, 2018, where the former APC National Chairman and former Governor of Edo State fingered Benue governor, Samuel Ortom as being behind the killing of two Catholic priests and other parishioners.

The priests were killed by unknown gunmen at Mbalom Community in Gwer Local Government Council of Benue State, but Oshiomhole insisted that they were killed because the priests criticised Samuel Ortom in his sermon.

Tuesday’s development followed Court earlier resolution in favour of Samuel Ortom by rejecting all Adams Oshiomhole’s six count preliminary objections.

Oshiomhole’s lawyer, Festus Jumbo revealed that his client was considering the retraction of his statement after Samuel Ortom’s lawyer, Samuel Irabor at the Tuesday’s hearing said, he was ready to produce his witnesses to the court.

Responding, Ortom’s Counsel said, he should be allowed time to look at the terms of settlement option sought by Adams Oshiomhole.

Titus Akhuwa who held the brief of Oshiomhole’s counsel, Festus Jumbo confirmed the submission of Governor Ortom’s lawyer.

The Presiding judge, Justice Augustine Ityonyiman of State High Court sitting in Makurdi, after listening to both parties, adjourned the case to October 29, for a report on the out-of-court settlement.
