Former Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation in the former President Muhammadu Buhari administration, Ogbonnaya Onu is dead.

Onu, a former presidential aspirant reportedly died at the age of 72 after a brief illness in an undisclosed hospital.

The politician who hails from Abia State contested presidential primary election with the incumbent President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Having contested on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC without success in 2023, nothing has been heard of the deceased till the news of passing away to the great beyond.

A source close to the family confirmed to journalists in Abuja, that he has died.

The deceased was a notable Engineer who was committed to reviving the nation’s Science and Technology during his tenure as Minister.

CAPITAL POST also recalled that the deceased was the first civilian governor of Abia State, and was appointed Minister by the former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 which he served till 2022 and resigned to contest presidential election.
