A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Jonathan Taidi Gunu (SAN) has said that Nigerians are passing through the toughest moment of their lives, warning that leaders should live up to their responsibility.

He stated that the increasing rate of hunger among the Nigerians populace has taken into a fearful proportion warning that if adequate measure is not taken to cushion the alarming proportion of poverty and hunger bedeviling the citizens, it may lead to unprecedented reactions from Nigerians.

Speaking with Journalists in an interview in Minna Wednesday, the Senior Advocate said leaders should in the interest of Nigerians alleviate the increasing hardship imposed on the people, saying that with the current situation in the country, people may revolt against the leaders if necessary things are not done to cushion the effect of the suffering.

According to him, the removal of subsidy without putting the needed remedy in place to improve the well being of the people is an absurdity that should not be allowed, adding that leaders are taking the patience of the citizens for granted.

“Is a fact arising from the withdrawal of fuel subsidy that our economic situation has become unpredictably harsh.

“You wake up everyday the prices of items are on rise without a commensurate income on the part of our people.

“This is very unacceptable. The government itself that withdrew the subsidy don’t have plan for the repercursion of that withdrawal.” he declared.

He urged that it is in the interest of the generality of the people that the leaders should quickly go back to the drawing board to put an enhancing measure in place to safeguard the situation from getting out of control.

“They shouldn’t wait until the protest that are now in pockets begin to spread all over the country. It will be very uncontrollable for them” he added.

Barrister Jonathan Taidi stated that the patience of the people should not be taken for granted, noting that the hardship facing the citizens are as a result of the removal of subsidy.
