Suspected thugs loyal to the All Progressives Congress, APC on Monday evening waylaid the Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal Secretary, David Mike, while on his way to Court.

CAPITAL POST gathered in Lokoja that the fully armed thugs trailed the Tribunal Secretary from his house before they double crossed his vehicle which he was driving with two other persons believed to be staff of the court.

The Secretary was said to have been waiylaid at a short distance from his house before he was forced into their Hilux Van (black colour) before driving off.

An eye witness account told CAPITAL POST that those watching did not know what was happening immediately as the thugs never fired a shot before whisking the Secretary away leaving his car with the ignition on.

The Tribunal Secretary was said to have been driving with two staff in his vehice.

Another source said, the gun men demanded for copies of petition by the Social Democratic Party, SDP Governorship candidate in the last election.

It could not be confirmed if the Tribunal Secretary was with copies of election petition documents they were looking for before whisking him away.

CAPITAL POST recalled that thugs loyal to APC last week seized the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC office in Lokoja, before they were dispersed by the military.

A day after, the gunmen stormed the residence of the INEC Commissioner in Kogi State, Dr Hale Longpet and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed before the military intervention.

The attack was later confirmed by the headquarters of INEC through a statement issued and made available to journalists in Abuja.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kogi State Command, SP William Ovye Ayah declined comment when he was contacted.
