Founder of the GDG initiative, Mr. Gyang Dung Gyang speaking to Journalists on Saturday in Jos, said the initiative was his little way of giving back to the society that made him.

Gyang said that he felt that the people were passing through a lot and there was an urgent need to reach out to them.

The founder said that he had been organising such outreaches every year but this year’s outreach was unique because of the hardship caused as a result of fuel subsidy removal.

“It’s my heart’s desire and passion to reach out to the vulnerable and the needy in society. And it’s not just this, we have been able to give scholarships to some students who are already graduates.

“Today, we have planned to treat a minimum of 400 persons but from the way it is going, it may exceed that number,” he stated.

The Outreach Team Lead, Pharm. Pam Chong said that the team was testing and treating the patients for ailments such as malaria, hepatitis B & C, high blood pressure and diabetes among others.

Chong disclosed cases that the medical team comprising doctors, nurses, lab scientists and pharmacists were unable to handle in the outreach would be referred to hospitals that could handle them.

The team lead said that they have sufficient drugs to treat over 400 patients.

Vice President, of Gyel Development Association of Jos South Local Mr. Ishaya Pam, lauded GDG Wellness for the gesture which he believed would improve the health and well-being of the people.

Pam prayed to God to bless the organisers of the outreach to continue to impact the lives of the less privileged.
