Kogi governorship: Pardon Ata Igala for not hosting Muri, concentrate on “chasing the fox out of Lugard House” – J.S Okutepa, SAN
A lot has been said about the failure of HRM Ata Igala Agabaidu Alaji Matthew Opaluwa Oguche Akpa II to receive Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, due to circular from Kogi State Government barring traditional rulers in Kogi State from receiving the SDP Governorship candidate.
Some see the failure of his HRM to receive Muri as sign of weakness. These comments are with respect not well situated. I thank HRH Ohinoyi of Egbira land when he received Muri. He did well. But we must note the time difference between when HRM Attah Igala acted the way he did or was said to have done and the time HRH Ohinoyi acted.
But for the judicial orders and the beefing up of security around Muri by our security agencies who seem to be non-partisan now, even Muri could not have been able to tour Kogi West and Kogi Central. Even his movement to Kogi East at that time was Nicodimusly done so much so that only few knew his movements.
Let us show mutual understanding for the time differences and circumstances that have enabled the democratic movements of Muri. We must avoid seeing negative things in actions. Let us discuss how we can chase away the fox from our political landscape and restore leadership with love of the people and non-violence leadership with vision. That to me is what Muri needs now and with our support he will lead us well.
Those who have not seen the handwriting to fall in line with Muri should do so now. Muri movements are organic and for God’s sake let us be focused and leave our Royal fathers out of partisan politics.
