The Supreme Court of Nigeria has thrown out an appeal filed before it by the family of Late General Sani Abacha over forfeiture of looted funds.

The family through their lawyer sought to re-open proceedings on the criminal forfeiture proceedings against the ex-Head of State and some of his relatives.

CAPITAL POST on Friday reports that late Sani Abacha and some of his immediate family were involved in the looting of the nation’s treasury during the military officer’s administration from 1993 until his death in 1998.

Justices of the Supreme Court in a
unanimous judgement read by Justice Emmanuel Agim, held that concurrent findings of facts are unassailable and consequently dismissed the appeal.

It also ordered parties to bear the cost of the legal action.

With the Apex Court decision on Friday the case has been put to rest.
