Governor Badaru signs last budget of N172 billion into law

Jigawa State governor, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has signed a budget of N172 billion into law being the last as he completes his second tenure of office on May 29, 2023.

He said, the 2023 budget will be used to complete some ongoing projects embarked by his administration and to address priority projects in the State.

According to him, the budget was designed to consolidate on the gains made by his administration in the last seven years.

Badaru the took over governance in Jigawa State on 29th May, 2015 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which he recontested a second term of office in 2019 and won.

He said: “The 2023 Jigawa state budget will be used for completing most of the ongoing projects in the state”.

“In the last seven years we were able to construct over 1,700 km roads, achieved 95 percent access to water, improved our GDP with over 100 percent, built and renovate over 6,000 classrooms,”

“Through effective budget implementation we are able to improve on our education sector and the results manifested in our students’ WAEC/NECO results from 4.5 percent to over 60 percent of those who obtained 5 credit including Math and English “

Badaru therefore promised to ensure that Jigawa citizens continue to enjoy dividends of democracy throughout his tenure.

The governor signed the budget after the state assembly had passed it with no increase from the amount of N172 billion presented to them, while expressing
satisfaction with the state budget performance in the last seven years of his administration.
