Jigawa PDP governorship candidate, Lamido celebratThe Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 general election, Alhaji Mustapha Lamido celebrates girl educational as they mark their international day.

In a statement on Tuesday which was made available to CAPITAL POST in Abuja, the PDP governorship standard flagbearer, said, he would make education for the girl child in the State free, if elected governor of Jigawa State.

The statement read: “On this beautiful day of the International Girl child day celebration observed worldwide, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jigawa State standard flagbearer, Mustapha Sule Lamido felicitates with all girls in Jigawa State in particular and Nigeria in general on this special occasion.

“I have earlier stated in my Vision for Jigawa State which is already in the public domain that if elected, I will provide free education for the girl child up to secondary school. Girls that are orphans will have their sponsorship extended up to Tertiary Institutions. In addition, scholarships will be paid for students of special and professional programmes in the field of Medicine, Engineering, Law and other key programmes. First class graduates will be considered for automatic employment.

“In my vision statement as regards the health sector, we will sponsor the training of the girl child to address the shortage of female medical personnel.”

In a statement which was signed by Deputy Director, Publicity PDP campaign Directorate, Malam Umar Kyari Jitau, further pointed: “the safety and development of the girl child is our collective responsibility towards human kind and a better future. San Turaki Dutse said we must commit ourselves to the working on the progress of our state by saving the girl child.”

According to him, access to education, health care services, skills based learning facilities and economic empowerment are keys to the safety of the girl child and safeguard against gender based violence.
