ASUU Strike: Buhari will end Lecturers’ rascality – Lauretta Onochie

As reactions continue to trail the judgement of the National Industrial Court ordering striking lecturers back to class, President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide, Lauretta Onochie said the President would end the lecturers rascality.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), a body of lecturers in Nigerian Universities have been on strike for the past seven months over unmet demands by the Federal Government.

Lauretta posted on her official Facebook page made saying that President Muhammadu Buhari will forever be remembered as the leader who put a permanent stop to the incessant rascality of ASUU.

The Court’s judgement order the suspension of strike action by lecturers has been appealed by ASUU, who insisted that they would not call of DC the strike.

Justice Polycarp Hamma delivering a ruling on the interlocutory injunction filed by the federal government, restrained the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, from continuing with the industrial action pending the determination of the suit.

Part of ASUU’s demands before they embarked on strike on 14th February were the deployment of UTAS to replace IPPIS, and implementation of the 2009 renegotiated agreement which contains its members’ conditions of service.

Lauretta added that all over the world, members of the academia are known for breakthrough in all endeavors of life through researches, but not in Nigeria.

She further alleged that some people will blackmail and hold government, parents, and students to ransom.
