Breaking: 2023: Atiku wins PDP’s 2023 presidential ticket
Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has won the presidential ticket of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 general election.
He scored 371 votes to beat others at the PDP’s National Convention which held at the national stadium, Abuja from Saturday till early Sunday.
Others who contested with him are, Rivers State governor, Chief Nyesom Wike who scored 237 to become his closest challenger; former Senate President, Olubukola Saraki pulled 70 votes.
Others are: Udom Emmanuel (38), Bala Mohammed (38), Anyim Pius Anyim (14), Mrs Tari Diana Oliver 1 and Sam Ohuabunwa 1.
Sokoto State governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal earlier stepped down for Atiku, a development that further strengthened his chances.
Atiku, 75 is contesting for the nation’s top job for the sixth time. He served as Vice President to the ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo between 1999 to 2003 and both ruled on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
