Imo APC’s so-called State congress is Uzodinma’s birthday party – Senator Rochas Okorocha

Senator representing Imo West Senatorial district, Senator Rochas Okorocha has described Saturday’s Imo State All Progressives Congress (APC) as governor Hope Uzodinma’s birthday party and not Congress as portrayed.

Reacting through his media aide, Sam Onwuemeodo, the former governor and philanthropist maintained that he was not aware APC held any congress in Imo State

“We are not aware that there was APC congress in Imo State. What they did today was a birthday party.

Okorocha insisted that his faction was the authentic APC in Imo State with
Dan Nwafor as Imo State chairman of APC, arguing that there was a subsisting Court judgement in his favour that hasn’t been vacated yet.

Meanwhile, governor Hope Uzodinma’s aide, Macdonald Ebere emerged Chairman of State APC in a congress that was held in Owerri on Saturday.

Ebere is a strong loyalist of Senator Uzodinma and he is a native of Owerri in Owerri municipal council.

Meanwhile, Senator Rochas Okorocha and the board chairman of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, Ifeanyi Araraume, boycotted Saturday’s Congress that produces Uzodinma’s aide as Chairman and a former House of Representatives member, Hon. Mathew Omegara as Deputy Chairman.

Uzodinma urged the new leadership not to disappoint him and the people that elected them, noting that they should do all they could to reconcile aggrieved parties.

The governor said, “I want to urge you not to betray the confidence reposed on you by the great people of Imo State. Go out there, carry out your political evangelism, preach the good message. Tell the story the way it is and our party will grow from strength to strength.

“I will give you all the support you will require. APC is a national party. APC is a party to beat in Nigeria. APC is the party that produced me to be the governor of Imo State.
