APC explains massive security agents’ presence at Secretariat
The National Secretary of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator James Akpanudoedehe has made clarification on the deployment of police personnel in the party national secretariat on Monday.
About 30 armed security operatives were seen at strategic locations at the ruling party national secretariat on Monday morning.
Some online reports earlier today (Monday) presumed that the law enforcement agency was working on threatening security reports.
In an emergency media briefing, the National Secretary of the party said the Security Agency’s presence at its National Party Secretariat situated at Blantyre Street Wuse 11 Abuja is to protect lives and property.
He said “The police is here to strengthen the leadership of Governor Buni, the Caretaker Chairman of the APC. Whenever you have a security report that you are privy to, it is incubent on our part to strengthen so that we can protect you, life and property of the APC.
“APC cannot be embarrassed because this is a national government. Therefore we take measures to foastal any happening. We cannot underestimate security report, you cannot play down on it. We can’t take laws into our hands. You don’t expect us to call thugs.The right thing to do is to inform the police” he said.
