Nasarawa LG Primaries: Deputy Governor’s anointed candidate lost out as Maifata, Odasco pick tickets

Doma the country home of Nasarawa State deputy governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe rebeled against his anointed candidate, Mrs. Victoria Apawa in the just concluded, All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in the state.

Our correspondent who was at the venue of the primary elections in Doma reports that Arc. Ahmed Usman Sarki scored 183 votes to defeat Dr. Akabe’s anointed candidate who scored 78 votes.

The election was under heavy security presence to ensure peaceful conduct of the exercise in the locality.

Mrs. Victoria Apawa is the personal assistant to the wife of the deputy governor, Mrs. Tosan Akabe and ahe would have been compensated with the LG Chairmanship seat of Doma, if she had succeeded.

In the Concillorship primaries, CAPITAL POST can authoritatively report that anointed aspirants of the deputy governor and the State Commissioner of Environment lost woefully as they couldn’t produce a single candidate in theory wards.

The story wasn’t the same in the State headquarters, as the former Lafia Local Government and state ALGON chairman, Aminu Mua’zu Maifata has picked ticket for second term in office after a heated contest with 2 other contenders in the primary elections which held at Ibrahim Abacha Youth Center Lafia.

Maifata who polled 275 votes, while, Arabo scored 64 votes and Doro got 6 votes at the end of the primaries.

Speaking to CAPITAL POST the winner, Aminu Mua’zu Maifata thanked party delegates, party structures, stakeholders and his co-contestants for accepting defeat.

He promised to continue with his good work he started in the last 3 years for betterment of all citizens of the local government area.

He appealed to all and sundry for maximum support and cooperation in order to move the local government forward in the next 3 years to come.

In the same vein, Nasarawa Eggon local government area have vehemently warned against imposition of candidate against their wishes by some political money bags.

“The choice of Mohammed Danlami Odansco is our collective decision to elect who will run the affairs of this council not for anyone to decidw for us.
Some delegates spoke.

Odansco scored the highest votes at the end of the exercise an became the APC, flagbearer of Nasarawa Eggon local government forthcoming local government elections.

CAPITAL POST can authoritatively report that the State Independent Electoral Commission NASIEC has fixed October 6, 2021 as elections date across the 13 councils in the State.
