Wike, Fubara supporters clash amid gunshots at PDP secretariat

Supporters of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike and Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayyi Fubara on Friday engaged in violent brawl at the Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Port Harcourt with gunshots all over the places.

The sporadic shootings around the secretariat, located on Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway scared passerby who scampered for safety and the incident caused vehicular movement..

It was confirmed that the gunshots were fired by security agents to deter fighters and to avoid the attackers from spiraling into widespread violence. Other persons around the Secretariat also said, thugs from two camps also fired guns,
It was gathered that they were security agents guarding the facility since the Court removed the factional Chairman of PDP in Rivers, Mr Aaron Chukwuemeka and his executives.
It should be noted that Fubara and his predecessor are at odds with each other, allegedly over the control of political structures in the state.
The latest incident occurred when Fubara’s supporters, who had been ejected from the office by security personnel following the court verdict, attempted to retake the office on Friday morning.
They were halted by Wike’s loyalists, who stormed the area, leading to a serious confrontation.
