The House of Representatives All Progressives Congress, APC caucus from Taraba State has described the purported removal of Hon. Ibrahim El-Chudi as State party Chairman as skewed, and against due process stipulated in the party article.

The caucus leader in the lower legislative Chamber of the National Assembly, Hon. adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Usman Chidi at a press conference in Abuja on Monday stated that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Taraba was behind the confusion, vowing that the removal will not stand.

While dissociating themselves from the crisis, the caucus said, few members of the State Executive Committee, SEC of APC in Taraba allowed themselves to be used against the party contrary to section 12 of APC’s constitution.

It’s recalled that the State APC Chairman in Taraba and former House of Representatives member, Ibrahim El-Chudi was removed from office after he was asked to resign alleging his involvement in anti-party activities.

The aggrieved members of the SEC insisted his sack thereby leaving Taraba State APC in deep crisis.

Reacting further to the crisis, the Reps caucus maintained that the removal was through a press conference by few SEC members, noting that there was never a well constituted meeting with a resolution for the removal of El-Chudi in line with Article 12.9 of the APC Constitution.

Lawmakers said: “We jointly and severally wish to affirm our faithfulness to the APC constitution which clearly stipulates procedure for leadership election and removal.

“The Preamble of Article 21 of the APC Constitution is neither there for fancy nor is it cosmetic.

“Having not invoked and exhausted paragraphs A-C of Article 21 of the APC Constitution, can those claimed to have removed Hon. El-Sudi by invoking Section 21, paragraph D (v) of the APC Constitution be said to have validly exercised such powers assuming but not conceding they were properly constituted. The answer to this question is certainly in the negative.

The lawmakers noted that the development was a joke taken too far, adding that “as a governing party at the centre, enemies should not be allowed to cowed the party into confusion.”
