More infoFormer Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini, who is now a billionaire, has not ruled out the possibility of buying the Gunners one day. Flamini, who turns 40 on Thursday (March 7), is fondly remembered by Arsenal fans for his time at the club where he played 153 times in his first stint, winning the FA Cup and almost winning the Champions League in 2006.
He returned to the club for a second spell in 2013, adding another 93 appearances after spending five years at AC Milan. In 2010, while still playing football, Flamini co-founded GFBiochemicals, showing his business acumen.
Now, 13 years later, he holds a 60% stake in the company and serves as its CEO. According to Forbes, this venture has earned him a net worth of £10 billion, enough to buy any Premier League club, including Arsenal.
Current owner Stan Kroenke has resisted all previous attempts to buy the club. When asked about the possibility of buying Arsenal in an interview with The Athletic, Flamini said: “Obviously, those clubs [Arsenal and Marseille] have a special place in my heart.
“I never forget where I come from. In life, you never know but it’s all about the right opportunity. I’m a real believer in the right time, right place, right people. We’ll see what the future is made of,” reports the Daily Star.
“I’m a believer. If you want something very much, the universe usually brings it to you.”
