Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders award CDS with Outstanding Leadership in fight against terrorism

In recognition of exceptional commitment and leadership in the ongoing fight against terrorism and banditry, the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL), under the leadership of its President General, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, presented an Award of Excellence for Outstanding Leadership to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa.

The award was presented at a brief but impactful ceremony held in Civil-Militay Relations Defence Headquarters Abuja. General Musa, who was unavoidably absent due to official engagements, was ably represented by Rear Admiral Olu Bankole, the Chief of Defence Civil-Military Relations.

In his remarks, Comrade Goodluck Ibem praised the dedication, resilience, and results-driven leadership demonstrated by General Musa since his appointment as Chief of Defence Staff. He noted that the Nigerian Armed Forces under General Musa’s command have recorded major victories against terrorist groups and bandit networks, restoring peace and security to many communities across the country.

“This award is a symbol of our collective appreciation for the sacrifices of our military men and women, and particularly for the visionary leadership of General Musa in coordinating a robust and effective response to insecurity,” Ibem stated.

Receiving the award on behalf of the CDS, Rear Admiral Olu Bankole expressed gratitude to the youth coalition for their recognition, emphasizing that the military remains committed to defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and ensuring peace for all citizens.

“This recognition serves as motivation for the Armed Forces to do even more. The Chief of Defence Staff is fully focused on strengthening inter-agency collaboration, community engagement, and deploying intelligence-driven strategies to root out criminal elements,” Rear Admiral Bankole said.

The event was attended by youth leaders, civil society representatives, and members of the media.
