Senate promises FCT Minister legislative support

Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory has promised a legislative support for the FCT Minister, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and the entire administration in order to achieve its mandate.
The upper legislative chamber made the promise on Tuesday at an interactive session with officials from FCT at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.
Speaking at the Committee session, Chairman of the Committee, Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai lauded the Minister and his officials for their commitment to sanitizing the Federal Capital Territory and riding it of criminal elements.
Bomai said, legislative support would further strengthen activities of FCT, hence, the 10th Senate was willing to offer support to ensure that what they have started would be sustained.
He said: “I have no doubt of what the minister will achieve at the end because of his wealth of experience as governor and administrator which he will deploy to FCT”.
Reacting to question from news men over the threat for revocation of lands by the FCT minister, “it is not a threat, he is not saying he will revoke the legal occupant, he promised to revoke those that are not following the due process”.
According to the Chairman, if the minister is going about revoking any land that will attract litigation which it is not good for him as well as distract his work, I think he knows it better.
Sen. Bomai emphasised that they will make sure that people living in FCT will be given adequate facility that will make life comfortable for them and that will be part of their oversight function that the Senate is mandated to do.

Northern Senators Forum greets Nigerians on Easter celebrations

On behalf of the Northern Senators Forum, I am delighted to extend warm greetings to our Christian compatriots as they commemorate this year’s Easter celebration. We express profound gratitude to the Almighty God for granting us another opportunity to celebrate this significant occasion.
The Easter celebration serves as a poignant reminder of the triumph of good over evil and life over death, as embodied in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This period calls for introspection, love, forgiveness, and compassion, underscoring the importance of nurturing our relationships with God and fellow human beings.
The Holy Scripture reminds us that true fulfillment in life stems not from material wealth but from cultivating meaningful spiritual and human connections. As we celebrate Easter, we are encouraged to reflect on how to apply the teachings of Jesus Christ in our daily lives with renewed dedication.
By embracing the values of love, forgiveness, and compassion, we can collectively reject vices such as hate speech, bigotry, corruption, banditry, and terrorism. By prioritizing the well-being and happiness of others, we can foster a more harmonious and tolerant society.
As we celebrate this Easter, let us strive to love our neighbors and demonstrate increased spirit of tolerance and accommodation. By doing so, we can build a nation where everyone can live in peace and prosperity. I wish all Christians a joyous and blessed Easter celebration.
