Senate moves to probe CCT Judge’s assault allegation

Nigeria Senate on Tuesday began inquest into assault allegation by the Code of Conduct Tribunal Judge, Danladi Umar.

Umar alledgedly assaulted a Security guard at the Banex Plaza in the Federal Capital Territory, a development that has become a media issue.

In a petition by the guard, Clement Sagwak through Senator representing Plateau North Senatorial district, Istifanus Gyang, he wants the Senate’s intervention over the matter.

Gyang, who presented the petition to the Red Chambers on Tuesday told the lawmakers, that the victim, being one of his constituents is seeking justice.

The petitioner claimed that Dandadi Umar knelt and slapped him.

The petition was referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics and privileges by the Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan to be reverted to the Committee of the whole in four weeks time.
