The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Abba Moro, has knocked President Bola Tinubu for ignoring Senate resolutions on tackling insecurity in Nigeria.
The lawmaker was reacting to the resurgence of attacks by the suspected Fulani herders leading to scores of deaths, stressing that if the President had implemented resolutions passed by the Nigerian Senate, it would have addressed insecurity in Nigeria.
Moro berated security agents, saying that they have failed in their statutory duty of protecting innocent lives.
Speaking on the Africa Independent Television Programme on Monday, the Senator accused security agents of extorting money on Nigerians road, while criminals are busy wreaking hovoc across communities in Benue and other places.
CAPITAL POST recalled attacks in Logo and Ukum Local Governments in Benue State by the suspected Fulani militants lead to over 100 deaths with casualties still counting. The development drew the ire of Nigerians with condemnation.
He expressed optimism that Benue State governor, Hyacinth Alia having condemned attacks would raise to the occasion of protecting the citizens.
Moro said: “It gladdens my heart that the governor has finally spoken up. He condemned the recent killings. He has been silent, and his silence has not been golden. One hopes he goes beyond condemnation and makes promises. These are not enough.”
Also, Speakers of State Legislatures have strongly condemned the recent upsurge in attacks and killings in various parts of the country.
