Professor remanded in prison custody for assaulting female Police Officer

A Magistrate Court sitting in Wuse zone 3, Abuja has ordered the remand of
Professor Zainab Duke Abiola in prison custody for assaulting a female Police Officer.

She was sent to Suleja Correctional Centre in Niger State for assault and battery against Inspector Teju Moses who was attached to her.

The female Police Officer was battered and injured on her head with blood gushing out, while gasping for breath by the time she was taken to hospital for medical attention.

The Professor was immediately arrested upon report of the incident with her domestic aide, Rebecca Enechido and were both arraigned in the court on Friday.

Details of Court proceedings on Friday revealed that Zainab who is a legal practitioner and a human rights activist was charged with attempting to commit culpable homicide by the police and that she intentional insult her orderly to cause a breach of the law.

She would remain custody till October 5th 2022 when she was expected to reappear before the Chief Magistrate as her bail application on Friday was denied.
