A Member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC), Hon. Tolu Bankole has described the victory of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Elections Petitions Court (PEPC) as a win for Nigeria and democracy.
This is coming after PEPC declared the President and Vice President the authentic winner of the 2023 general elections on Wednesday night.
Hon Bankole in a statement he signed immediately after the PEPC judgement also commended the judiciary for exhibiting courage despite threats from various quarters.
He further appreciated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their credibility in the conduct of the 2023 general elections.
He however enjoined aggrieved parties to embrace patriotism and join hands to build a better Nigeria.
In his words; “I join all the good people of this country to congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and Vice President Kashim Shettima on your victory at the 2023 Presidential Elections Petitions Court.
“I extend this courtesy to all the lord Justices of the Presidential Election Petitions Court for exhibiting uncommon courage in the face of extreme cyber stalking, harassment and threats orchestrated by the enemies of democracy to bully the judiciary. Their rising above board, incorruptibility and insistence on the rule of law must be applauded. I must also thank, most profoundly, the media and civil society groups for unbiased interrogation and reportage of the whole process.
“Today’s judgement is equally a commendation on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s credible and non partisan conduct of presidential poll under most challenging circumstances.
“I urge the losers to prioritize patriotism above playing to the gallery. This is the time that all hands must be on deck to surmount the challenges currently faced by the country. There should be no difficulty for them to join hands with the renewed hope government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if their focus is indeed service to the people.
“This victory offers Mr President a rare chance given freely by the people to tackle headlong myriads of socioeconomic challenges confronting the country and deliver the renewed hope promised Nigerians without distractions.
“Above all, I thank God Almighty for permitting us all to see the light of this day.
“Once again, I congratulate the President, the Vice President and our party All Progressives Congress, APC”.
