The Executive Chairman, Federal Character Commission, Dr Moheeba Farida Dankaka was yesterday grilled for over 5 hours by the Nigerian Police over alleged certificate forgery and presentation of false information to get appointment.

We reliably gathered that a Civil Society Organisation, Youth and Leadership Initiatives in a petition dated May 23rd, 2023 addressed to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department, Garki, Abuja, had alleged that Dr Moheeba Farida Dankaka, presented false information to the Presidency and the National Assembly to secure the chairmanship of the Commission.

Part of the petition reads:

We are a non-profit organization focusing on leadership and public accountability in Nigeria. It’s upon these objectives we are writing your office to intimate you of the noticeable falsification of certificate, identity falsification and presentation of false information on oath against Dr Moheeba Farida Dankaka on which her appointment was made and confirmed by Mr President and the Senate.

“That “Dr.”Muheeba Farida Dankaka OON presented a number of documents that are inconsistent with each other. These are as follows:

“Dr.” Muheeba (Farida) Dankaka refers to herself as ‘Dr’. When in actual fact she holds no Ph.D degree in any recognized university. The acclaimed Honorary Doctor of Philosophy which she holds was issued by an institution that was not recognized and or accredited by the National Universities Commission. National Universities Commission had declared Pacific Western University. Denver, Colorado, USA, Owerri study campus as illegal and thereby shut it down. Meanwhile Dr. Muheeba Farida Dankaka was issued with the certificate in 2007 and her name appears as MUHEEBA H. DANKAKA. This name is also at variance with the present name she bears ‘Dr. Muheeba Farida Dankaka.

“On the face of the Master’s degree certificate copy attached to her Curriculum Vitae, her name is Muiba Nike Salau. This name is at variance with the present name she bears ‘Dr. Muheeba Farida Dankaka.

“On the face of the first-degree certificate dated August, 1986, her name is Muibat Adenike Salawu. This is also at variance with the name she claimed to
bear and supplied to the Presidency and the Senate during screening and the name with which she officially signs all documents. Conversely, her name on the NYSC discharge certificate which reads Salau, Mulbat Nike’ls also at variance with the name on the first-degree certificate which reads Mulbat Adenike Salawu.

“On the face of the West African Examinations Council School Certificate obtained in 1978, her name is ‘Salawu Muibat Adenike’. This is also at variance with the name she claimed to bear and supplied to the Presidency and the Senate during screening and the name with which she officially signs all documents.

Following this petition and public outcry generated by these discrepancies in the names of her different certificate, the police in a letter with a reference number 3000/X/FHQ/ABJ/PSFU/BIFF/VOL.51/014, Dated 8th January, 2024, signed by DCP Tahir Usman P, 3p Deputy Commissioner of Police For: Commissioner of Police (PSFU), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), invited Dr Moheeba Farida Dankaka for questioning.

Our police source said that Dr Moheeba farida Dankaka was grilled at the police office yesterday from 12noon till after 5pm and she was asked to report back on 17th January with original certificates, and that when asked to put down her statement in writing, “she couldn’t write a sentence as a statement and had to rely on her lawyer to write her statement to the police.

Our investigations at the Commission further revealed that she also relies on consultants to do her job, including minuting on documents to Commissioners.

The Police source who spoke to us anonymously added a letter from the police authority to the office of the registar Ahmadu Bello University to confirm the Master Degree paraded by Dr Moheeba farida Dankaka, however, certificate was denounced by the University saying that it didn’t emanate from the school.

The school in her reply said, ” I wish to inform you that the available records in the University revealed that the photocopy of the certificate attached to your letter didn’t emanate from this University.”

Dreadlocks order against gangsters linked to insecurity in Niger — Commissioner clarifies

Published

on

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Niger State, Hon. Binta Mamman has clarified that the governor’s order on cutting of dreadlock was targeted at a group of emerging gangsters responsible for insecurity in Minna, capital of Niger State.

In a statement she made available to journalists on Friday, the Commissioner said they are youths with dreadlocks who are identified by a particular hairstyle pattern linked to rising insecurity in Minna.

This group of individuals are the target of the Governor’s order and when seen they should be arrested and the reason is to dismantle the formation and spread of emerging groups before they become deeply rooted in the state.
Mamman said, “Niger State Government has on Friday reiterated its position to clamp down on nefarious youths groups with distinct hairstyles causing mayhem in parts of Minna, the State Capital.

“In a statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Binta Mamman, the Farmer Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago’s executive order still stands; however, it will only affect those who wear dreadlocks in front while the back of their heads is shaved.

“It should be noted that Governor Bago had given a marching order to security agencies that henceforth any youth who carries dreadlocks be arrested and his hair barbed.”

The commissioner added, “This is not a blanket criminalisation of hairstyles but a preventive measure informed by intelligence and ongoing trends. The aim is to dismantle the formation and spread of these emerging groups before they become deeply rooted in the state.

“The government has observed a disturbing trend among some youth groups where a distinct hairstyle that appears to be evolving into a form of group identity or cultism.

“The defaulters that will be arrested are those who wear certain dreadlocks in front while the back of their heads are shaved. The security agencies know them because they walk in droves.

“With intelligence reports, this particular dreadlocks style has increasingly become associated with members of these groups.”

The commissioner reiterated that the curfew imposed by Bago was not intended to cause any sort of hardship, saying the dusk-to-dawn curfew was not applicable to everyone but motorcycle riders and tricycle operators.

“The government fully understands the temporary measure this decision may pose to Nigerlites and hardworking Nigerians who go about their legitimate businesses,” she said.

She further reassured Nigerlites that the government is taking proactive measures to address the growing insecurity that has affected parts of the state capital in recent days.

She said, “Governor Bago is concerned about the safety of lives and property and that it remains the topmost priority of his administration.

“It is saddening to see that for some time now, we have experienced maiming, and violent attacks, with several lives lost to attacks by these miscreants who operate at will, brandishing various dangerous weapons in a manner akin to cult groups.

“I tell you without mincing words that these groups are young boys who are between the ages of 13 and 22 and they exploited the ease of movement provided by motorcycles and tricycles to commit crimes across various parts of Minna and evade arrest.

“If these boys are not restricted, they can carry out criminal activities in one part of town and vanish into another within minutes. Their swift mobility not only makes arrests difficult but also enables the rapid spread of their operations.
