NSCDC begins clampdown on illegal private security companies

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has commenced a clampdown on illegal private security companies operating in Abuja.

The clampdown by government’s own Paramilitary agency is to sanitise and curtail activities of unregistered private security agents operating against the law.

Speaking with journalists on Thursday in Abuja, he Deputy Commandant of the Corps and HOD PGC FCT Command, Tijani Usman explained that whoever that would operate private security firm must register and undergo scrutiny.

He insisted that any company found breaching the law will be arrested and prosecuted.

Usman noted that the Comandant General of the NSCDC, Dr muhammed Audi was committed to the vision of the Corps, stating that arrest of fake security companies so far has started yielding results.

He said: “I want to commend the Commandant FCT Command of NSCDC, Dr Peter Maigari for setting up the task force for which they are doing well.

“Those involved in illegal private security are warned and the Corps has what it takes to bring them to justice”, adding a that those who have been arrested will be prosecuted.

In the similar vein, the head of operation in FCT PGC of NSCDC, Mr Udofa Isaac said the arrest of illegal security operatives in the Federal Capital Territory is a continuous excise.

Also, the Chairman of the Association of Licence Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ASPSPN) FCT chapter, CapT Danjuma Kufana (RTD) indicated interest of the group to partner with the Corps to rid FCT of illegal Security operatives.

Also speaking, the head of operation in FCT PGC of NSCDC Mr Udofa Isaac saod the arrest of illegal security operatives within the Federal Capital Tertiary is a continuous excise.

He urged people operating this illegal business to have a rethink as his term will do everything possible to totally confront them.

He urged those people who what to operate private Security company to register with appropriate authority to avoid putting the country under security threat.
