Nigerians facing worst economic hardships under President Tinubu – Timi Frank

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Monday, lamented what he described as “worsening socio-economic conditions of Nigerians under President Bola Tinubu.”
Frank who made this assertion in a statement in Abuja, insisted that Nigerians have faced the worst forms of economic hardships,
pains, neglect and hunger in the last six months of Tinubu’s administration than any other time in the history of the nation.
According to him, “This is going to be the first Christmas to be celebrated by Nigerians under Tinubu’s administration but it’s going to be the worst and a nightmare for Nigerians because they cannot even afford foodstuffs and drinks to celebrate the Yuletide.
“Naira scarcity is biting harder. Nigerians now buy Naira before they can use Naira. They cannot afford a bag of rice under his government because the cost is way above the N30,000 minimum wage.
“Salaries are not being paid. Now new minimum wage. Wage award not paid. No cash transfer to vulnerable Nigerians after taking a world bank facility to that effect.
“Whatever they have saved has been eroded by inflationary pressures which now stands at over 28 percent and the high cost of petroleum products following abrupt removal of fuel subsidy by Tinubu in May.” World bank also just confirmed that 99.9% of Vilnetabke Nigerians yet to receive FG cash transfer.
He added that while the much trumpeted investment drive by Tinubu has not materialized, the few existing investors in the country like Proctor and Gamble, Shoprite and Jumia Foods, etc, are leaving in droves.
He said: “How can new investors come to a country where the rule of law is not working?
“They cannot come because they have lost confidence in this administration over legitimacy issues both locally and internationally.
“His bad policies and the thriving corruption in this administration are scaring away investors.
“The only thing the government has achieved in the last six months is the looting of the country and paying of lip service to the fight against corruption.
“So which right thinking investor will come to a country where the judicial system is corrupt?”
“Today,” according to him, critical sectors of the economy are headed by Tinubu’s men and the country is not working because all sectors under his administration have been deliberately compromised and corrupted.
“As a result of a highly compromised judicial system under Tinubu, investors do not have confidence of getting justice if any agreements they enter into is breached or disputed.
“Also, investors have lost confidence in the National Assembly, who are saddled with making laws especially to aid the ease of doing business among others, but practically it is known to be one of the most corrupt arms of the present government.”
He said while Tinubu christened the 2024 Appropriation Bill as “Budget of Renewed Hope” the reality confronting Nigerians shows that it is a “budget of renewed hopelessness”because of the humongous fraudulent insertions into the fiscal document.
He added: “So right now, the future of Nigeria lies in the hands of Nigerians. Like every other nation, when a government has failed, the only option is for the people to protest and call for a restoration of sanity.
“Therefore, the only thing that can bring back the sanity is for Nigerians to wake up and join the upcoming peaceful protests in January which we are planning and mobilizing Nigerians for to rescue the country.
“If they want a better Nigeria, then they must wake up and fight to make sure they kick out this illegitimate government through peaceful protests.
“Nigerians must take their destiny in their hands by joining the peaceful protest in January to support the diaspora protest locally and internationally.”

Falana dares Wike to report him to LPDC over judgment analysis on 27 Rivers Lawmakers defection

A foremost human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN Femi Falana who has faulted the Supreme Court judgment on Rivers State political case that restored the 27 State lawmakers to dared the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike to report him to the Legal Practitioners’ Disciplinary Committee.
This was even as Falana was said to have analysed the judgment and faulted the apex Court over its decision on the political crisis.
Falana in a statement titled: “I did not lie against the Supreme Court of Nigeria”, insisted on his analysis and accused Wike of attempt to incite the apex Court against him.
The lawyer dismissed Wike’s threat as “spurious and tendentious in its material fact”, stressing that he did not misrepresent the Supreme Court’s decision on the defection of 27 Rivers State Assembly lawmakers loyal to Wike.
Falana in the statement released on Monday reacted to FCT Minister’s public criticism of him during a media conference in Abuja which was widely aired on Channels and other popular media outlets.12 April 2025

It was recalled that Wike claimed Femi Falana, a senior lawyer misrepresented the Supreme Court’s ruling and threatened to report him to the disciplinary arm of the body of lawyers in Nigeria.
Wike said, “If someone of Femi Falana’s calibre can go on national television and lie, it’s very serious. Lies can cause a lot of crises.”
Reacting further, Falana noted that Wike’s response to his analysis was scurrilous particularly for telling the public that he lied on the defection of the 27 Rivers State lawmakers.
Falana said, the issue on defection which is pending at the Federal High Court in Portharcourt before the Supreme Court made its ruling calls for concern.
Part of the statement read“I did not lie against the Supreme Court in respect of the judgment in question. All I said was that the matter of the defection of the 27 legislators was raised suo motu and determined by the eminent Justices of the apex court.”
Falana said he hinged his analysis on video evidence and sworn affidavit of the defection of 27 lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, adding that his right to criticize the Supreme Court on its decision was provided in the Constitution and international human rights law.
“My fundamental right to criticise the decisions of courts is guaranteed by Section 39 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), and Article 9 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights,” he said.
He accused Wike of hypocrisy, reminding of attacking Justices of Courts if the case wasn’t in his favour.
Falana added, “Unlike Mr. Wike, who calls judges names whenever they disagree with his politics of opportunism, I have always criticised the judgments of domestic and regional courts with utmost decorum and in good faith.
“Since he has become the unsolicited defender of the judiciary, I challenge him to report me to the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee for professional misconduct,” Falana said.
