Protest rocks Nasarawa over Supreme Court declaration of Sule as winner of governorship election

Protest has erupted in Nasarawa State on Friday following the declaration of Abdullahi Sule as winner of the March 18, 2023, governorship election by the Supreme Court.
Nasarawa governorship election dispute between Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress, APC and Hon. David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was decided today alongside five others.
Immediately Sule was declared in the early hours of Friday, protesters mount roadblock on Lafia-Jos road in anger chanting injustice to the people of Nasarawa State.
Residents of Lafia, the state capital also have their own fair share of protest as supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party burn tires and became uncontrollable leading to chaos.
Protesters blocked Lafia-Jos road completely leading to motorists stranded in their numbers.
The protesters who are majorly PDP supporters burn tires at the State Secretariat, creating a roadblock for passersby, which has forced motorists to use alternative routes.
Although security personnel are present, restoring calm and ensuring no escalation, shops and business centres including schools within the Lafia metropolis have abruptly closed.
CAPITAL POST early reported that Supreme Court has upheld the election of Abdullahi Sule as winner of the State governorship election.
