Pro-Fubara protesters back Atiku-Fubara 2027 ticket, reject pressure to support Tinubu

Supporters of suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara have taken to the streets to voice their opposition to what they allege is mounting pressure on him to align with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu.
In a viral video circulating on Facebook, a female protester clad in black—described as a staunch supporter of Fubara—led chants among fellow demonstrators.
The visibly charged group expressed dissatisfaction with recent political maneuvers involving the suspended governor.
“We want Fubara returned as Governor. We’re waiting for our own northern collaboration. What we want is for our Governor to run as vice president with Atiku Abubakar,” the woman declared.
She went on to criticize a reported meeting between Fubara and former Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike, during which Fubara was allegedly urged to support President Tinubu.
“Yesterday (Wednesday) our Governor met with Wike and he was told to support Tinubu. What kind of arrangement is that? We’re not in support of that,” she added.
The protest leader’s statements underscored the group’s preference for an Atiku-Fubara presidential ticket in 2027, signaling growing discontent within the state’s political ranks.
With 2027 still on the horizon, political undercurrents are already beginning to surface—hinting at what some observers are calling an early preview of Nigeria’s next political showdown.
