President Tinubu moves to cleanse Nigerian judiciary over alleged corruption

President Tinubu has commenced moves to undertake a cleansing of the Nigerian Judiciary owing to alleged endemic corruption.

It was gathered that the President’s move was against the backdrop of concerns raised by diplomats and members of the international and business community over the spate of alleged corruption in the judiciary.

Recall that Tinubu sacked over 30 magistrates when he was Lagos State Governor between 1999 and 2007.

A source who spoke on condition of anonymity with our reporter disclosed that Judges now own massive shares in aircraft companies, and are owners of choice properties home and abroad, with investments in estate development in Abuja and Lagos.

Speaking to our reporter, the source said, “The competitive rot in the court of Appeal in commercializing judgements is an embarrassment to the entire country and President Tinubu is set to fire judges found wanting by the NJC in the commercialization of judgements.

“This has led to diplomats, international businessmen refusing to do business in Nigeria, for fear of the apparent corruption in the court of appeal, and disgracefully in the Supreme Court.

“Sadly, the impunity has become so glaring and security agencies are aware of the massive acquisition of properties by some Justices of the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, where you can no longer guarantee any true decision coming from it except those that go to the hands of the highest bidder.

“The business and international community have told the president that unless there is a massive purge from the Supreme Court to the Court of Appeal, where this massive financial impunity is perpetrated, all appeal by the Nigerian Government for investments to come to the country may just as well be forgotten.”
