FCT APC Reconciliatory Committee to embark on Area Council tour

In a move to weld the All Progressives Party in the Federal Capital Territory FCT together, the Unity and Reconciliation Committee (URC) has finalized plans to commence Area Councils visitation next week.

This was revealed at a meeting between the committee members and the Minister of State of the Federal Capital Territory, Hajiya Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure.

The Minister who received the committee said she was delighted to know that the committee has developed its strategy and to enable her commence Area Councils visits.

She praised the composition of the committee especially as it has experienced politicians who can galvanize support from the grassroot for the party.

Addressing the Minister for State FCT, Chairman, Unity and Reconciliation Committee (URC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Federal Capital Territory Chapter, Senator, Usman Jibril Wowo who led the committee members to the Minister, said, this visit was critical to harvest the peculiarity of challenges in the respective Area council for informed recommendations to the Party.

Sen. Wowo said the Party is obliged to hear out the true feelings of the people in their domain to be able to proffer solutions to the party ahead of the Area Council elections.

He said the All Progressives Congress has a duty to bring it’s people together and mobilized support for her party victory and the prosperity of the FCT, and it’s ideology of development which is evident in the Territory.

“We are soon going to embark on Area Council visitation by next week, to enable us to have an on the spot assessment of the situations and also talk to the stakeholders and other members of the Party at all levels in each of the area councils.

“Our party cannot afford to go to the polls with a divided house. You can see the level of the development of the Territory by our party, the All Progressives Congress. Is this infrastructural development not good?

“How can we deny our people the much desired progress that the APC is offering, for what we do not know? Therefore, we have to be proactive as a party and that is what we are doing.”

Sen. Wowo said the visit to the Minister of state was to intimate her of the strategies of the committee and get her input as one of the political leaders of the party in the helms of affairs of the Territory to enhance her task.

According to him, the meeting was fruitful for the committee and would benefit the party as the information shared between the committee and the Minister of state for the FCT were crucial to the task ahead.

Wowo said the committee expects the party members to come forward and express their grievances honestly, respectfully and above all be civil as they do so, as the issues would be well attended to.

“We know people are willing to work for the APC. We are also aware that many members want the party to give them listening ears as they have valid issues to be raised for which they want to be settled, our party has given us the task and we would do our best.

“We encourage all party men to come out and be open on their issues of concern so that we can make the right recommendation for our party’s glory at the polls in the FCT.

Sen. Wowo said “we are not sneaking into any area council, we are going in, to meet our people from all sides that is why we are calling on everyone to come and meet with the committee and share her concerns for a robust engagement that would witness conflict free body ahead of the elections.”
