President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, celebrates former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim as he marks his 63rd birthday anniversary.
Senator Lawan, in a birthday message to Sen. Anyim, on Monday, extols the 9th President of the Senate for his leadership qualities, political acumen and commitment to national unity and progress.
He describes Anyim as an advocate who consistently encourages dialogue and compromise as the paths to resolving national challenges.
The message reads, “I join the nation in celebrating the remarkable contributions of His Excellency, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, GCON, to our great country, Nigeria.
“The occasion of his 63rd Birthday Anniversary allows us to reflect on his illustrious career and the significant impact he has made in various spheres of public service.
“Sen. Anyim served with distinction as President of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly between 2000 and 2003; and Secretary to the Government of the Federation under former President Goodluck Jonathan.
“Throughout his tenure, he demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, political acumen, and commitment to national unity and progress.
“His leadership at the Senate was marked by the passage of landmark legislation, including the amendment of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which democratized local government administration. As Secretary to the Government of the Federation, he played a significant role in coordinating government policies and ensuring the smooth implementation of key national initiatives.
“Sen. Anyim is widely recognised for his ability to bridge political divides and foster consensus. He has consistently advocated for dialogue and compromise as the paths to resolving national challenges. His contributions to peacebuilding and conflict resolution have earned him respect and admiration both within and outside Nigeria.
“Beyond his political achievements, Sen. Anyim is an accomplished businessman and philanthropist. He has used his wealth and influence to support numerous charitable causes and development initiatives.
“As we celebrate Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim on this special day, we commend his dedication to the service of our nation.
“We join his family, friends, and well-wishers in wishing him a fulfilling and joyous celebration. May his wisdom and experience continue to guide and inspire us in the pursuit of a better Nigeria for all.”
