Edo guber: I will collapse PDP, LP into APC – Arhiavbere

A governorship aspirant under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Edo elections, retired Major General Charles Arhiavbere has vowed to collapse the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) into the APC if he emerged as the governor of the state.

The general made the vow after submitting his Nomination and Expression of Interest forms at the party headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking to journalists, Arhiavbere said he will deploy his expertise to ensure that the mandate of the party is restored.

He also expressed commitment to make APC the main and only party in the state if elected.

“We are going to work tirelessly to make sure that APC present the best candidate, and I can assure you the best is the one standing right before you”, he said.

Speaking further, General Arhiavbere vowed to adopt the use of artificial intelligence to tackle security challenges in the state.

“We have the opportunity to make Edo state safe, peaceful, using the security apparatus available to us, using internal democracy, believe in people, believe in ourselves, collaborating effectively with the federal government to ensure peace reigns in Edo state. It is not through vigilante, putting arms in the hands of untrained people.

“I think we can do it differently, you have robotics, you have cameras, today we have drones, and artificial intelligence that can bring security to the people.

“There are some countries, they have operational rooms, anything happening anywhere it is known, these are the new technology that i will introduce that will make the people comfortable”, he added.

He also expressed commitment to invest in infrastructural development in the state.

“I intend to take through the state House of Assembly, pass a bill to approve the new state infrastructure development commission”, he said.
