Akpabio ridicules Peter Obi, tells him to ‘resolve small crisis in Labour Party’

President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio has ridiculed Peter Obi over his inability to resolve what he described as a small crisis in the Labour Party he contested to be President in 2023.
Akpabio stated this during plenary on Thursday that engaged Senators paying tributes to the late Niger Delta leader, Pa Edwin Clark.
He was reacting to a statement by Mr Obi who said ‘the labour of our heroes past were in vain’, urging Obi to concentrate on resolving the Labour crisis rather than wishing Nigeria misfortune, a country he wanted to rule.
The Senate President said, there was an avalanche of praises for the late Edwin Clark because of his commitment and patriotism till he died, while advising the former presidential candidate to toe the path of uniting the nation each time he has opportunity to speak during a public function.
He said: “Let me end this by letting the family know that with the avalanche speech of today, he cherished the demise of his late patron, an icon. His sweat on earth definitely was not in vain.
“From the North Central, the very powerful remembrance by Senator Solomon Lalong of what he said Edwin Clark did when he was a Federal Commissioner, and even the proposition he brought forward of the handshake across the Niger that united our people.
He cherishes that and the efforts that he made were, and could never have been in vain. I’m saying this because I understand that just yesterday, one of the Presidential candidates, Peter Obi, His Excellency, whom I am familiar with said just yesterday that the labour of our heroes’ past went in vain.
“I beg to disagree with that. For the fact that our country is standing together despite our challenges shows that the labour of our heroes past was not in vain. So many countries of our size have been fragmented, but we are still standing together.
“Edwin Clark lived all through the days of USSR which was fragmented into many countries and until now, it is still at war trying to see whether they can come together. Despite our difficulties, God is still keeping us together because of the voices of people like late Pa Edwin Clark.
“And for those in the social media, Nigeria has an unregulated social media system, let them wallow in it and take this and propagate all sorts of falsehood and all sorts of narratives.
“Some of the social media influencers were not even born when Edwin Clark was in active service for them to know some of the things he did that we are remembering today.
“Yet, somebody made a statement that the labours of our heroes’ past are in vain. I beg to disagree with that.
“I urge Peter Obi to show leadership like Edwin Clark did. He should resolve the crisis in the Labour Party. There is a small crisis in the Labour Party for a man who wants to run Nigeria.
“He can’t resolve the small crisis in the Labour party, is it the crisis of Boko Haram that he wants to come and resolve. Let us do something when we have opportunities”, he concluded.
