NCC, Stakeholders in telecom ecosystem chart new order for industry growth

Again the telecommunication regulatory agency in Nigeria, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), stakeholders in the telecommunication industry at a leadership summit indicated their readiness to chart a new order that would grow the telecom industry in Nigeria.

The summit which was organized by the NCC was in line with its culture of engaging stakeholders in the telecom ecosystem in pursuit of a proactive regulatory interventions targeted at ensuring an enabling operating environment and improving investment climate in the Nigerian telecom industry.

In a statement by the Director of Public Affairs of the Nigeria. Communications Commission, Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde which was obtained by CAPITAL POST in Abuja on Thursday, said, the event which took place at the Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos, was an assemblage of key industry stakeholders with the central objective to analyse the current state of the sector and process.

He stressed that the regulator agency will chart a new pathway to a more effective and sustainable regulatory regime for the stability and growth of the Nigerian telecom industry.

The statement quoted the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta, to have said: “The Future of Telecom Regulation in Nigeria,” presented a unique opportunity for the Commission to interact with critical stakeholders.”

Through such interaction, the EVC said the Commission would be able to brainstorm and migrate to new frontiers of visionary regulations that will galvanise and foster desired growth in the industry.
