Change of Name

Jones, who collaborated with many artists, including Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, and Ray Charles, was regarded as one of the greatest entertainers in American history.

Throughout his career, which spanned over 75 years, he produced many hit songs, won 28 Grammy Awards, and was recognised by Time magazine as one of the most influential jazz musicians of the 20th century.

Despite working with numerous artists, Jones was best known as Michael Jackson’s Thriller album producer.

Quincy Jones’s first encounter with Michael Jackson was pivotal in pop music history. They met in 1978 on the set of The Wiz, where Jackson was playing the Scarecrow. At the time, Jackson was already gaining prominence as a member of the Jackson 5.

During this meeting, Jackson expressed his desire for Jones to produce his next album, sparking a collaboration that would prove immensely successful.

Together, they produced some of the most iconic albums in music history, including Off the Wall (1979) and Thriller (1982), the latter of which remains the best-selling album of all time.
Jones’s production style and Jackson’s unique talent combined to create a series of hits that defined the sound of the 1980s.
