Fresh attack leaves 14 persons dead in Plateau community
Again, the rampaging gunmen in Plateau community between Saturday and Sunday has left 14 persons dead with several others fatally injured, CAPITAL POST has leant.
The village of Lisham Kwahasnat located between Mangu and Bokkos Local Government Council of Plateau State came under attack by a yet-to-be identified gunmen just as villagers were preparing for Christmas celebration.
An eye witness said, the attack was carried out at night, while the angered victims mobilized themselves on Sunday and went after the assailants and in the process razed houses within the community.
Plateau State Police Command was yet to issue a statement over the development, but when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Alabo Alfred, promised to get back to journalists after he has adequate information.
The joint military taskforce in the State confirmed the incident, and have deployed troops to the area to take control.
Spokesman for the Military Taskforce, Captain Oya James, said, “We condemned the renewed attack in the area. More troops had been deployed to the troubled communities to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
“We were on our way to Mangu to prepare for an event tomorrow when we were told that there was little unrest in Bokkos and we had to move to Bokkos, and we have been there since morning till now.
