Fleeing pregnant woman delivers baby in bandits’ presence in Niger community

A heavily pregnant woman (name withheld) delivered a baby in the presence of bandits while fleeing into the bush to escape from being shot.

However, bandits allowed her to be assisted by some women who were abducted while delivering the baby in the bush.

Bandits on Monday invaded Shiroro Local communities in Niger State in their numbers and sacked the locals.

The affected communities have been manned by the joint security taskforce all these while, but have just vacated the Allawa and Bassa communities on Friday after the joint securiry taskforce came under heavy attack leading to the killing of five soldiers and an NSCDC officer, CAPITAL POST has learnt.

Bandits reportedly operated for hours, razed the operational vehicles of the State joint taskforce and stole whatever their hand could lay in houses of runaway locals.

The entire Allawa community has been desolated as the people have all fled to neighbouring Pandogari town where they are currently taking refuge in primary schools and in open spaces.

“As I talk to you now, the situation is very pathetic”, a witness told newsmen.
