CYMS announces date for Houston 2022 international trade show

The Committee on Youth Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS) has announced the date for the Houston 2022 International Trade Show.

The long awaited trade show will hold at 9am daily, from 30th May to 4th June this year, in Houston Texas, USA.

Houston 2022 is a trade mission designed to share with the rest of the world the creativities and productivities of the Nigerian youth to secure patronage for made in Nigeria products and services. adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Activities lined up for the show are, Trade tours, Seminars, Roundtable discussions, Exhibitions, Investment tours, Road shows/Entertainment, Entertainment, Networking and Recognitions and Awards.

Briefing journalists on Thursday in Abuja, the Director General of CYMS, Mr Obinna Nwaka said “the implementation committee of the Houston 2022 has come up with modalities that will ensure participation of business moguls, organized private sectors, philanthropists and multinationals to partake in sponsorship with the various categories such as; Bronze package (Exhibition Stand), Silver Package (Exhibition stand, digital screen display of products), Gold package (Exhibition stand, 1 complementary tickets/slots, digital screen display of products) and Platinum package (Exhibition stand, conference brochure, 4 complementary conference tickets/slots, digital screen display of products).

“The sponsorship of the program and the participation of individuals or organization attract some fee which covers all the expenses regard to the conference such as Visa, conference materials, accommodation, local transportation to the event Centre, feeding and optional flight to and fro” He added.

According to the Director General, the aim of the programme is to encourage the diversification of the Nigerian economy from over dependence on oil into manufacturing, production and exportation of non-oil export products.

He said” The Houston Trade show intends to encourage and see lots of youths in future transformed into the next generation of Alhaji Aliko Dangote of Dangote Group, Chief Innocent Chukwuma of INNOSON motors, Mr Jelani Aliyu of Chevrolet etc, who have made the country proud through their passion on developing the content of Made in Nigeria products.

“Interestingly, Africa, most especially Nigeria has the highest entrepreneurs rate in the world by 22% as stated by the African Development Bank (ADB). In other to navigate the future of organisational cultures, the journey has to start as early as possible with those who exhibit enterpreneural traits or an interest in entrepreneurship.

“Houston 2022 will be a showdown between the Nigerian youths and the world that will culminate in the presentation and appreciation of Made in Nigeria products and services that will ensure the international standards for goods and services are adopted by the entrepreneurs”.

Also Speaking, Project Director, Communication and System Network Limited, Prof Ibrahim Ado Abubakar said the Nigerian youths needs encouragement and empowerment to explore. He urged them to be persistent in ensuring that they showcase made in Nigeria products to the wider world.

Sharing his story and growth as a youth to stardom, Nollywood actor and Adviser of CYMS, Barr Kenneth Okonkwo said the natural secrets are creativity, commitment and consistency.

Executive Director, Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) Dr Ezra Yakusak represented by a Deputy Director in the council, Iliya Yaro said the council is committed to supporting Nigerian youths in all aspects of the country’s non-oil export promotion development.

The Director, BuyNaija projects, Ambassador Ngozi Omeche, urged youths in the country to embrace farming and trade as they are currently the most productive sectors of the economy.

The International Trade Show which is facilitated by the Organization of Youths in International Trade and Commerce (OY-ITC) will be implemented in partnership with Buy-Naija project of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
