Buhari returns, get set for Monday’s APC presidential primary

President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja from Spain on Friday after a two day official visit.

He travelled to Madrid, Capital of Spain on Wednesday on official assignment.

His outing was despite a few days to the primary election of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) which he was expected to monitor the turn of events.

Buhari arrived at the Presidential wing
of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and was received by the FCT Minister, Mohammed Bello, and the Director-General of the State Security Service, Yusuf Bichi, amongst others.

The Nigeria leader signed at least nine Memorandum of Understanding with the Spanish government and this is coming barely eleven months to the end of his second tenure.

The memorandum of understanding include the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters; Transfer of Sentenced Persons; Extradition; Economic and Commercial Cooperation; Tourism.

Others were on Sports; Health; the Fight Against COVID-19; and Science and Innovation.

Buhari had during the 2-day visit told the Spanish President, Mr Pedro Sanchez, that Nigeria looked forward to increase its bilateral relations with Spain.

He commended Sanchez for his leadership qualities and contributions to the war against terror in Sub-Saharan Africa, especially in Mali, and looking forward to cooperation in the area.

Meanwhile, Buhari was expected to meet with all the Presidential aspirants tomorrow (Saturday) before Monday’s presidential primary even as he had met with the APC Governors’ Forum chaired by the governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi before he left for Spain
